PAFA Opens New and Improved Museum Café

Tableau at PAFA features later evening hours and a larger menu,
created by STARR Restaurants Catering Group

PHILADELPHIA (March 6, 2015) - Visitors to the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts  (PAFA) are in for a tasty surprise: a new full-service café with an expanded menu and extended hours of operation.

The café, called Tableau at PAFA, is now open to the public on the ground floor of the Samuel M.V. Hamilton Building, 128 North Broad Street, Philadelphia.

The elevated café menu by STARR Restaurants Catering Group includes a variety of sandwiches, salads, soups and baked goods made fresh daily. An expanded selection of beverages is also available at Tableau, with a full coffee bar serving La Colombe, including made-to-order cappuccino, mocha, macchiato and other specialty drinks. Tableau also has a selection of beer and wine on its new menu, which includes special discounts for PAFA members.

The sunny and spacious café features a contemporary design interior including custom-built tables, inspired by art students' drawing tables, and a bank of floor-to-ceiling glass doors along Lenfest Plaza that can be opened in warm weather. On the walls are large paintings created by some of PAFA's talented student artists.

PAFA President and CEO David Brigham stated, "This exciting new café showcases delicious food alongside PAFA student artwork, and has something for everyone from students to museum patrons, Convention Center visitors, and the general public. We look forward to the outdoor dining possibilities in the spring, which will enliven Lenfest Plaza."

Tableau will be open Monday 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Wednesday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The longer Wednesday hours are ideal for visitors taking part in PAFA's new Art in Process programming on Wednesday nights, when the museum is open until 9 p.m.
