21st Annual Bacchanal Wine Gala & Auction
Advance registration is required.
The annual Bacchanal Wine Gala and Auction is the premier wine event in the Philadelphia region, and it is PAFA's largest fundraiser, bringing in over $500,000 annually. Since the event's inception, Bacchanal has raised over $9 million to support student scholarships and education programs.
The black-tie evening includes a champagne reception, specialty wine tastings, multi-course dinner, live music and dancing, and two fantastic auctions - one silent and one live presented by Sotheby's.
We are delighted to announce this year's Thomas Jefferson Award nominations. For the wine honoree, we will recognize the globally renowned Mazzei Family and their estate Castello di Fonterutoli, which has been the most important institution of Chianti Classico in the world for the past six hundred years. For our artist honoree, we are proud to celebrate PAFA alumna Elizabeth Osborne '58. Osborne, represted by the Locks Gallery, is recognized by critics and peers as one of the most innovative and daring Philadelphia-based artists of the last forty years.
For the philanthropist honoree, we will recognize the distinguished service of Henry B. du P. Smith and June Marshall Smith, who, together, have made a profound impact on the Academy.
The 2019 Bacchanal co-chairs are Emily Cavanagh and Jonathan Hirsch. As in years past, the weekend kicks off with the exclusive Winemaker Dinner Series, which are held in private residences during the days leading up to the gala. Honored wineries are paired with local chefs for a special dining experience.
