This is event is being held online. After registering, connection information will be emailed to you.
Learn how to turn your prints and drawings into artists’ books with PAFA alumna and CE faculty Shushana Rucker. Bookbinding only requires simple tools, is easily portable, and does not require a shop or studio, making it ideal for any artist working from home. Designed for beginners, this two-part workshop will introduce students to basic book structures including pamphlet, accordion, Japanese stab binding, and long stitch. Demonstration topics include incorporating printmaking into bookbinding and learning how to make your own paste, paper, and bookcloth. Course content will be presented in the form of short video tutorials, printable tutorials, and video conferencing with the instructor and other students. Videoconferencing will take place over two Saturdays, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., with the rest of the course content posted for students to engage with projects on their own during the intervening week.
