The Brodsky Center at PAFA in Philadelphia is a dynamic space where artists push the boundaries of creativity, collaborating with expert printers and papermakers to explore new artistic territories. Since its founding in 1986, the Brodsky Center has maintained a clear mission: to offer opportunities for artists, especially those from marginalized communities, to create new works. This creative hub, equipped with studios that support all techniques, has facilitated the production of nearly 700 complex editions with over 400 artists. These artists engage printmaking and papermaking as essential tools for expressing unique ideas, often alongside painting, sculpture, and new media. Notable artists who have contributed include Pacita Abad, Elizabeth Catlett, Zoë Charlton, Jonathan Lyndon Chase, Melvin Edwards, Sam Gilliam, Mona Hatoum, Barkley L. Hendricks, Byron Kim, William Kentridge, Pepón Osorio, Jaune Quick-To-See Smith, Faith Ringgold, Kiki Smith with Mei-mei Berssenbrugge, Pat Steir with Anne Waldman, Mickalene Thomas, Didier William, and many more.
Please note that this event is not hosted by PAFA, but is organized by Powerhouse Arts (PHA) in collaboration with Fine Arts Baltimore (FAB). Inquiries should be directed to the event organizers.
