FREE Museum Day
Join us at PAFA, founded in 1805 as the first U.S. school and museum of fine arts, for free museum days on November 24, from 11 AM to 5 PM. Explore two exceptional exhibitions:
Philadelphia Revealed: Unpacking the Attic presents over 600 artifacts from the Atwater Kent Collection, offering an interactive journey through 350 years of Philadelphia’s history. Dive into the city’s rich past with historical images, multimedia, and hands-on elements, and contribute your own stories through related programming and a podcast.
Making Strange: Sacred Imagery and the Self invites you to explore intentional distortion and reinterpretation of traditional sacred imagery. This exhibition features paintings, sculpture, and works on paper from PAFA’s collection and the Brodsky Center, reflecting the art historical concept of "making strange"—a term coined by Dr. Marcia Hall. This Counter Reformation artistic movement used distortion to inspire introspection and dialogue, encouraging deeper, more emotional engagement with art.
Plan your visit today and immerse yourself in Philadelphia’s vibrant art and history. See you soon at PAFA!
