Image of painting by Georgia O'Keeffe (1887-1986), Red Canna, 1923, Oil on canvas

Still life paintings can evoke a mood, demonstrate an artist’s skill, visualize desires, and even send a message. Katerina Romanenko will guide participants through the Still Life gallery in Making American Artists: Stories from PAFA, 1776 - 1976. Together we will look closely at the objects collected and rendered in still life paintings, while discussing the historical contexts of their creation. The stories about the artists and the artworks will reveal the importance of the still life genre in American art and remind us to take note of life’s changing and immersive beauty.

Registration includes the entrance fee to PAFA's Museum.
