Premiere of "The Legacy of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts: Faculty Recollections"
We are excited to announce the completion of The Legacy of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts: Faculty Recollections, a documentary that celebrates the personal and professional journeys of six esteemed faculty members. The Legacy of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts: Faculty Recollections, features six appointed PAFA faculty who share personal memories of their time as an Academy student and/or later as an appointed member of the Academy Faculty. The video is an independent study project created by two students, Nina Byerly (BFA ‘24) and Raffi Zarzatian (BFA ‘24), in the context of the seminar course Art and Professional Practice.
The independent project is one of several course expectations and as a result, the number of faculty included in the video is limited to six. The faculty included are those who have served as a department chairperson. They are Dan Miller, Jill Rupinski, Al Gury, and Tony Rosati. Two additional faculty, Bruce Samuelson and Michael Gallagher were also selected because of their unique long-time relationship with the Academy.
“Recollections by PAFA Faculty was initiated as an independent study project prior to the unexpected announcement of the changes the Academy is now experiencing. That auspicious coincidence underscores the video and its significance, for now and for posterity. Many heartfelt thanks to the interviewed faculty for their time and for their thoughtful recollections now shared with the PAFA community. Special thanks to Nina Byerly and Raffi Zarzatian for their enthusiasm, diligence, and commitment to this project, and to the general course expectations.”
Tony Rosati, Professor
Project Initiator and Advisor
