Josephine Halvorson is an artist who works out of Brooklyn, New York and western Massachusetts. She completed her BFA from The Cooper Union in New York, and her MFA from Columbia University in 2007.

Recent shows include Josephine Halvorson: Slow Burn at the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art in Winston-Salem, North Carolina; Josephine Halvorson, Leslie Hewitt, Jennie C. Jones at Sikkema Jenkins & Co., New York; and Josephine Halvorson: Outlooks at King Art Center in New Windsor, New York.

She was a 2010 recipient of the New York Foundation for the Arts Award in Painting and a 2014-2015 winner of the Rome Prize. Halvorson is Professor of Art and Chair of Graduate Studies at Boston University. She is represented by Sikkema Jenkins & Co. in New York and Peter Freeman Inc. in Paris.
