Mark Thomas Gibson (b. 1980, Miami, FL) is an American visual artist working in painting, print, ink, and watercolor. Gibson's work explores Black representation in the United States using the vernacular of comics. Gibson received his B.F.A. from The Cooper Union and his M.F.A. from Yale School of Art in painting and printmaking in 2013, where he received the Ely Harwood Schless Memorial Fund Award.

The student-run Visiting Artist Program brings an outstanding roster of local, national and international artists to PAFA each semester. Through a series of public lectures, critiques, and workshops, the program exposes students and the public to a range of artistic approaches, as well as fostering discussion of contemporary art and ideas.
