PAFA Announces the Appointment of Ashley R. Lomery as Chief Development Officer
PHILADELPHIA (July 17, 2018) – The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ashley R. Lomery as Chief Development Officer.
Lomery, who has more than 20 years of fundraising experience in higher education and the arts, most recently served as Assistant Vice President of Development at Temple University. She accepted the position after an extensive national search conducted by PAFA. She will begin her new role on August 13.
“Ashley is an energetic, driven and collaborative leader who will help to dramatically increase operating, capital, and endowment funding,” said PAFA President and CEO David R. Brigham. “I look forward to working in partnership with her to meet those goals.”
Lomery said: “PAFA is an exceptional institution, a treasure for the City of Philadelphia, our region, and beyond. I am excited to join the team and work closely with David Brigham, the Board of Trustees and all faculty and staff to successfully conclude the current capital campaign, and grow the philanthropic base of support to sustain PAFA's museum, school, and talented students into the future."
In her new role, Lomery will continue to build and expand PAFA’s major and planned giving program, identify and build relationships with new sources of support and develop a national donor constituency.
In her more than eleven years at Temple University, Lomery was responsible for overseeing development and alumni relations strategies for individual colleges within the university, and conceptualizing and launching Temple’s first-ever central major gifts team. She also mentored and coached numerous gift officers and was responsible for nearly $35 million raised in outright and planned gifts. During the most recent fiscal year, she worked to secure a $10 million capital naming gift and a $4 million endowed scholarship gift.
Prior to joining Temple, Lomery worked at two peer institutions: as Assistant Vice President, Individual Giving, at California College of the Arts in Oakland, CA, and as Advancement Officer, Individual Giving, at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA.
She also helped lead the membership program at the Autry Museum of the American West, in Los Angeles, CA.
Lomery earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Television & Radio Production from Ithaca College in New York, with a minor in Fine Art. A ceramic artist when time allows, Lomery channels her passion for the arts and art education by serving on the Board of Directors of The Clay Studio in Philadelphia.
