Michael Rossman received the title of professor emeritus from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia in 2013, where he taught since 1966 in the Foundation, Painting, Sculpture and Industrial Design departments. He has also been a member of the faculty at The Barnes Foundation, teaching seminars on Cezanne, Impressionism and Post Impressionism since 2004. He was invited in 2012 to teach figure drawing and anatomy at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, China.  Rossman holds a Bachelor of Industrial Design degree and a Master of Fine Arts degree from Pratt Institute.

Rossman’s paintings and drawings have been shown in Philadelphia at Gross McCleaf Gallery, More Gallery, and Cerulean Arts Gallery. His work has also been exhibited at the Philadelphia Airport, the Woodmere Art Museum, Allens Lane Art Center and the University of the Arts. His drawings are in private collections as well as the permanent collection of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

Rossman was awarded the Wintersteen Prize for painting by the City of Philadelphia, Bietzel (1995) and Lindback (2012) Awards for Distinguished Teaching by the University of the Arts, and a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship for Works on Paper (1992). 

Rossman teaches drawing and serves as a critic in the Continuing Education program.
