Roger Chavez
Roger Chavez is a painter currently living and working in Philadelphia. Chavez places his practice as a form of philosophical investigation by beginning with his subject matter as a point of departure.
He regularly exhibits in the Philadelphia region and has shown work in New York and Washington, D.C. Exhibition venues have included the Berman Museum of Art, the Woodmere Art Museum, Gross McCleaf Gallery, J. Cacciola gallery, and the University of Pennsylvania’s Kroiz Gallery and Fox Gallery.
Chavez has been a recipient of numerous awards including the Lewis S. Ware Traveling Scholarship, a scholarship at the Vermont Studio Center and a grant from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation. He has taught at numerous schools including the Maryland College of Art and Design, Manyunk Art Center, and Ursinus College, and has served as a visiting critic at the University of Chicago.
Chavez teaches Drawing and Painting in the Continuing Education program.
