Access state-of-the-Art Facilities for Printmakers, Sculptors, and Papermakers. As a Shop Member, you’ll have access to PAFA’s world-class printmaking and sculpture studios, equipped with specialized tools, presses, and workspaces designed for professional artists.
SCULPTURE FACILITIES EQUIPMENT
WOOD SHOP: 10" SawStop cabinet saw, 12" miter saw, 10" miter saw, jointer, surface plainer, drill press, two 6" bandsaws, panel saw, 12"-disc sander, 6" stationary belt sander
METAL SHOP: oxy/acetylene welder, three 250-amp MIG welders, 210- and 250-amp TIG welders, stick welder, Plasma Cutter up to ½", large and small gas forge, horizontal & vertical bandsaw, mobile dust/fume hood, two bench grinders, 6" stationary belt sander, 10" disk sander, a large variety of grinding and sanding tools
STONE SHOP: ½ ton stone lift, assorted stone shaping grinders, set of hand and pneumatic chisels, more than a dozen stone working stands.
CERAMICS: one 28"dia x 26"h circular electric kiln, one 17" dia x 18" h octagon kiln, three wheels, assorted glazes and designated work area.
MOLD-MAKING STUDIO: great for messy operations like, plaster, plastic or cement casting, rubber mold-making
GENERAL: each shop has: specialized air handling equipment including fume hoods, downdraft tables, environmental chambers and a spray booth, a full assortment of power and manual hand tools, and pneumatic connections for air tools

INTAGLIO/ETCHING: 4 manual intaglio presses, 2 electric motorized intaglio presses plate cutter, plate warmer, large and medium water baths, 2 large worktables approx. 4 x 8ft each
LETTERPRESS: 1 manual book press, 1 Vandercook press, collection of 100+ type collection
LITHOGRAPHY:4 manual lithography presses, 1 electric motorized lithography press, 300+ litho stones, stone lifts and carts, stone graining sink
SCREENPRINTING: power washer, 250+ screens, 8 screenprint tables with hinge clamps
RELIEF/MONOTYPE: 1 manual relief press, 1 collagraph press, Grinder, relief ventilation and cleaning hood, 4 large worktables, approx. 4 x 8ft each
ACID ROOMS: general acid room, aquatint room, spray paint hood, soft ground, asphaltum
GENERAL: 3 exposure units (screenprinting, polymer plates, photolithography), paper cutting station with paper cutter, cutting mat, and rulers, brayers and rollers, drying racks, limited flat files for rental, light box, paper cutting supplies for safe clean up and disposal of hazardous materials

The Richard C. von Hess Papermaking Studio Facilities Equipment
FIBERS: Cotton, kozo, abaca, among others (available for purchase at the shop)
SHEETS AND PULP PAINTING: Shaped sheets, couching, watermarks, water stream cutting, veiling, pigmented pulp, and stencils, among others
SCULPTURE: Casts from pre-existing molds in cotton or abaca; highly beaten abaca pulp for shrinkage and distortion; or wet sheets dried on wire mesh armatures or embedded wire filament, among others
DRYING SYSTEMS: Small, medium, and up to 4-by-8-foot-large sheets
VATS: Small and medium, shallow and deep vats; and one 4-by-8-by-1-foot large, 240-gallon capacity vat
MOLDS and DECKLES: Small and medium size
HYDRAULIC PRESSES: 1 small-size press and 1 large-size press
HOLLANDER BEATER: 2 LBS. (beaten pulp made to order, only)
